We are delighted that you are considering living in residence at Carleton University. Our community of more than 3600 students provides a dynamic and diverse environment in which one will have many opportunities for academic and personal growth. So, whether you are coming right out of high school or returning to studies after taking some time away from the classroom, we are confident you will find a happy home here at Carleton.
Please note that you must first accept your offer of admission before you can apply for residence. Furthermore, there may be a delay of three or four days between the time you accept the offer of admission and are able to apply for residence.
The 2020 – 2021 Residence Agreement can be viewed here. The 2021 – 2022 agreement will be available in the Spring of 2021.
1. Apply for residence online.
The first step would be to log on to My Carleton using your My Carleton One (MC1) username and password by clicking here. Once logged in, go to Carleton Central and on the Main Menu, scroll down to Housing Services and click on Apply to Residence. (Online process available February 1st. Applications are due by June 8th, 4:30 pm ET in order to be included in the Room Lottery for non-guaranteed applicants, held on June 11th. Please note that if you wish to apply for residence, you will be required to pay a $35 non-refundable application fee. The $35 application fee can be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express, any Visa/Debit* cards) or by Interac, also through Carleton Central. Please note that only customers of RBC Royal Bank, TD Bank, First Nations may use the Interac option, through Carleton Central. *If you are using a Visa/Debit card, select the Pay with your Credit Card section on Carleton Central to make payment.
You will receive an email, to your Carleton email account, in late Spring that will include a link to the eRezLife portal where you will then complete the Residence Information Form where you would answer some quick lifestyle questions and/or request a friend to be your roommate. We ask that you are honest with your answers as it will help us place you when we do the room assignments in late June. More information can be found here.

2. Lottery/Waitlist information
Based on available space, students will be forwarded an Offer of Residence Accommodation or a waitlist assignment number commencing after the Room Lottery on June 11th. Any applications received after the deadline of June 8th will be added to the end of the waitlist. Space will be offered in waitlist order, as it becomes available through cancellations. It is important that you set up and check your Carleton email account, which we will use to communicate with you. You are also welcome to contact our office to check your status.
