Thank you for your interest in graduate student accommodation.

Graduate residence is currently full.

Please note that by submitting the residence application for graduate housing you are joining a lengthy waitlist. We cannot guarantee that students on the waitlist will be offered a space. We encourage graduate students to look for off-campus housing.

Online applications for 2024-2025 Residence open on February 1, 2024 at 10:00 am.

Eligibility Requirement

To be eligible for graduate residence, students must be accepted into a degree program at the graduate level and be enrolled in full-time studies.

If you are a new Graduate student, you must first accept your offer of admission before you can apply for residence and wait for your application status on Carleton360 to display “Applicant Acceptance”. There may be a delay of 3 or 4 days between the time you accept the offer of admission and are able to apply for residence.

Step 1: Apply to residence through the Housing Portal by clicking the link below. You will require MC1 credentials to log into the portal.

Step 2: Once you have logged in, click on “Housing Application”.

Step 3: Select Academic Year 2024-2025.

Step 4: Pay a $50 non-refundable application fee. The $50 application fee can be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express, any Visa/Debit* cards) or by Interac. Please note that only customers of RBC Royal Bank, TD Bank, First Nations may use the Interac option.

Step 5: Be sure to complete and save your application. You will receive a confirmation email to your Carleton email account.

New Graduate students who have accepted an admission offer but are not able to log into the Housing Portal may email residence@carleton.ca, from the Carleton email account, for assistance.

Room Assignment/Waitlist Information

Room Assignment Process

Based on available space, Graduate students will be offered a place in residence in chronological order of their application.

Graduate students are assigned to the 6th floor of Leeds House, which consists mostly of 2-person suites. The floor is co-ed, and upon request through the application, suites can also be gender inclusive.

Please note that there are no facilities for family accommodation. Students of any gender may request to share a suite, including the meal preparation and bathroom facilities by indicating so within the application form.

Roommate/Suitemate Assignment

Those interested in living with a specific roommate group may pre-select their roommate group in the application. Residence spaces can be selected by whomever in the group holds the earliest time ticket spot.

Those without a pre-selected roommate group will be eligible to select any space not already assigned that are aligned with their preferences.

Most suites are assigned as all-gender meaning that any combination of genders can live in the suite. For those requesting to live with only those of the same gender, these limited spaces will be indicated in the system when applying.

Some factors that we take into consideration when matching roommates/suitemates are:

Smoking (although all residences are smoke free)
Answers regarding personal lifestyle

Room Changes

We will begin accepting room change requests on September 30, 2024. Room changes are offered on a first come, first serve basis according to student type and availability. While every attempt is made to accommodate room change requests, a new room assignment is not always readily available. Residents will be contacted if and when there is a new room assignment to consider. More information regarding room changes can be found here.
