Since Carleton Residence first opened its doors for students in 1962, a lot has changed. Thanks to some of our department’s staff we have gathered a photo series featuring the construction, famous residents, and community milestones of our past.

An excerpt from RRRA’s former newspaper (the Resin) in 1983. An enthusiastic cafeteria manager (top) and five cafeteria workers posing behind the service counter (bottom) capture the newspaper’s summary of the food scene on campus: ‘The Oasis – a haven for late-night pizza freaks, breakfast people, and anyone else who just wants to relax and get a coffee (gee, that caffeine tastes great). The Oasis has improved their service this year by expanding their menu, and offering such things as croissants, pogos, and a pita salad bar. Thanks go out to all of the staff at the Oasis for their friendly and efficient service.
Before Jim Watson became the current mayor of Ottawa, he was RRRA President in 1983. Standing with a fellow resident, Jim accepts an award from David Sterritt, the Director of Housing from 1981 – 2014.
