Non-guaranteed 1st Year Students

February 1st, 10:00 am ET  – Online applications open for 2017 – 2018 residence.

We are delighted that you are considering living in residence at Carleton University. Our community of more than 3600 students provides a dynamic and diverse environment in which one will have many opportunities for academic and personal growth. So, whether you are coming right out of high school or returning to studies after taking some time away from the classroom, we are confident you will find a happy home here at Carleton.

Please note that you must first accept your offer of admission before you can apply for residence. Furthermore, there may be a delay of three or four days between the time you accept the offer of admission and are able to apply for residence.

The 2017 – 2018 Residence Agreement will be updated in the Spring.

1. Apply for residence online.

The first Step should be Log on to Carleton Central and select the Housing On-line Link from the Main Menu. (Online process available February 1st. Applications are due by June 8th, 4:30 pm ET  in order to be included in the Room Lottery for non-guaranteed applicants, held on June 13th,  2017. Please note that if you wish to apply for residence, you will be required to pay a $35 non-refundable application fee.  The $35 application fee can be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express, Visa/Debit cards) or by Interac, also through Carleton Central. Please note that only customers of BMO, RBC Royal Bank, TD Bank, CIBC, and Scotia Bank may use the Interac option.

After paying the application fee, you will receive an email 48 hours later with instructions and the link to our Residence Information Form.

2. Lottery/Waitlist information

Based on available space, students will be forwarded an Offer of Residence Accommodation or a waitlist assignment number commencing after the Room Lottery on June 13th, 2016.  Any applications received after the deadline of  June 9th will be added to the end of the waitlist. Space will be offered in waitlist order, as it becomes available through cancellations. It is important that you set up and check your Carleton  email account, which we will use to communicate with you. You are also welcome to contact our office to check your status.
