Living in Residence is a great way to learn and gain experience outside of the classroom. In Residence, there are several ways to get involved with the community around you. You can start with joining one of the three student committees:

Special Interest Communities

We offer several special interest community floors in residence. Check out your options!

Designated Quieter Floor

These areas are for students who wish to live in a quieter environment during the school year.

“Quieter” means there should be no audible sounds outside of rooms, floor hallways, common areas and lounges. Extra consideration related to noise is expected during the December and April examination periods.

These standards apply to all residents and guests visiting these floors. Staff in this community will work with all members of the community to define these additional expectations at the start of the academic year.

In case of violations, residents should try to have a discussion amongst each other, or report to staff if unable to self-resolve.

Substance-Free Floor

This is an option for students who commit to maintaining a living environment free from substances, which include alcohol, tobacco, smokeless tobacco, cannabis, drugs, drug paraphernalia or illegally obtained prescription medications.

Residents of legal age of majority (19 in Ontario) are not allowed to possess and use these products within these designated areas and are expected to not return to these floors while under influence of substances.

To respect the rights of residents in this community, these expectations also apply to guests visiting these areas.

Single-Gender Floor

Every year there is a least one single-gender floor in residence. These floors are based on demand.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to providing students with an environment that promotes equity, diversity, and inclusion and is free of discrimination, injustice, and violence.
