Residence Fellows
Residence Fellows are student staff members trained to foster safe and inclusive environments. Each floor has one to two Residence Fellow(s).
If you are experiencing a situation that makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, your Residence Fellow is available to you. They will connect with a network of professional supports to help address the issue in a confidential manner.
Reception Desk
Hours
During the academic year (fall/winter), the Teraanga Reception Desk is open 24/7. The Rideau Reception Desk is open 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, and closed on weekends and holidays. Please note that operation hours are subject to change throughout the year.
Please note of the following operation hour changes for the Winter holiday break:
Teraanga Reception Desk:
- Sunday, Dec. 21: Closed as of 4:30 p.m.
- Monday, Dec. 22 to Tuesday, Dec. 23: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Dec. 24 to Friday, Jan. 2: Closed
- Saturday, Jan. 3: Resume 24/7 as of 8 a.m.
Rideau Reception Desk:
- Saturday, Dec. 20 to Saturday, Jan. 3: Closed
- Sunday, Jan. 4: 12 p.m. (noon) to 11 p.m.
- Monday, Jan. 5: Resume regular operation hours

Tabling in Teraanga Commons
To request to table in the Teraanga Commons lobby, please submit a tabling request form. Please note that by submitting this form, you are not automatically approved for the tabling event. Requests will be reviewed and responded to within 2 business days.
Tabling Policies:
- Eligibility: Only Carleton University staff and students (affiliated with CUSA clubs and RRRA) are permitted to table in Teraanga Commons.
- Sales and Solicitation: Selling or soliciting food, goods, or services is strictly prohibited in accordance with the University’s Space Booking Policy.
- Donations: Accepting monetary or physical donations while tabling is not permitted. However, groups are welcome to share information or links directing individuals to reputable organizations where donations can be made.
- Safety: Fire lanes must remain clear at all times to ensure the safety of the Residence community. Large crowds are not permitted to gather near exits.
- Noise: Noise levels must be kept to respectful levels, as classes and workspaces are located nearby.

Teraanga Award for Black Students
On the recommendation of the Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life Services, this bursary is awarded annually to a Black (including, but not limited to: African, African-American, Afro-Brazilian, Afro-Canadian, and Afro-Caribbean) undergraduate student at Carleton University who demonstrates financial need.
Eligible students must be entering or continuing any program of study and residing in a Carleton University residence during 2025-26. The recipient showing a strong dedication to the residence community will receive $1,000. This bursary was endowed in 2023 by the Department of Housing and Residence Life Services.
