Room Types and Layouts

At Carleton University, we offer a variety of furnished residence options designed to suit your lifestyle, providing the comfort and convenience of on-campus housing to support your academic success.

As a first-year student, you’ll have the opportunity to select a space in a double room; you can choose from a double traditional room, double room with access to communal washroom or a double room in a pod. These rooms are a great way to connect with fellow Ravens and begin building your campus community from day one.

Upper-year students looking for more privacy and independent living arrangement can choose between a traditional-style single room or a suite-style room.

Traditional-Style Room Types

Traditional style rooms allow you to develop strong bonds with your fellow floor mates and give you a sense of belonging like nowhere else. These rooms consists of beds, desks, desk chairs, connected to a shared washroom.

Traditional Double and Single Rooms Combined


Traditional double room sharing the adjoining bathroom with another traditional single room. The double room is available to only first year students and the single rooms are available to only upper year students in Rideau House.

Double Room with Communal Washrooms


A double room with a sink in the room and communal washrooms on the floor which are cleaned and maintained by our staff. This room type is available to only first year students in Glengarry House.

Three Bedroom Pods


Hallway entry into a shared common space leading to three single rooms and a shared bathroom. This room type is available to only upper year students in Glengarry House.

Four Bedroom Pods


Hallway entry into a shared common space leading to four rooms (a mix of single and double rooms) and a shared bathroom. This room type is available to only first year students in Glengarry House.

Traditional Double Rooms

Two traditional double rooms share the adjoining bathroom. This room type is available to both first year and upper year students in:

Traditional double room where two students share an ensuite washroom. This room type is available to both first year and upper year students in Lennox and Addington House.

Traditional Single Rooms

Two traditional single rooms share the adjoining bathroom. This room type is available to both first year and upper year students in:


Suite-Style Room Types

Suite-style residences (reserved for upper year students) allow you to connect with your community while maintaining your independent lifestyle. Each suite has a meal preparation/dining area with a refrigerator and microwave (no stove).

Super Single Rooms


Two large size single rooms sharing the kitchen (microwave/ fridge/ cupboards/ sink/ counter) and adjoining bathroom. This room type is available to only upper year students in Prescott House.



Two Bedroom Suites

Two single rooms share the kitchen and adjoining bathroom. This room type is available to only upper year students in:

Completely self contained unit, with bathroom and kitchen (microwave/fridge/cupboards/sink/counter). This room type is available to only upper year students in Prescott House.
