Carleton University is celebrating the grand opening of its new on-campus residence.
Rideau House will officially open Oct. 16, with a ribbon cutting ceremony taking place between 11 a.m. and noon.
Rideau House provides 450 beds to incoming first-year and upper-year students. The university says the residence offers both single and double rooms.
“This new residence features modern, thoughtfully designed spaces aimed at fostering both community and convenience for residents,” the university says on its Housing and Residence Life website.
The nine-floor building is the first residence to be built on Carleton’s campus since Lennox and Addington was built in 2011. Russell House was renovated in 2012.
Representatives of Carleton University have previously said the demand for on-campus housing is increasing, and hope that Rideau House can help fill this need.
The residence also provides a wealth of amenities including a multi-faith space, community kitchen, half court gym, study spaces and bike storage.
