• Achim Hurrelmann (Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies): They are super enthusiastic about their subject and are super helpful and always in a good mood.
  • Adelle Forth (Psychology): I love her method of teaching.

  • Aleksandra Bennett (History): I love the way she teaches.  It’s as if she’s activity bringing each story alive every class.  She is very understanding, and puts an effort to get to know each student personally; She is very interested and knowledgeable in/about the topics of the lectures. She is very supportive during all assignments and goes the extra mile to help everyone succeed.She is very good at communicaitng and is quick to respond to any questions and also makes sure that the class has all the information needed on lectures, reading materials, and other resources available.
  • Andrew Johnson (History): Lectures are refreshing. PowerPoint use is exemplary. He should teach a class on how to use PowerPoint to students and staff. Email responsiveness and helpfulness is also excellent. Also, just a really friendly guy.
  • Andrew Robinson (Physics): He puts in a ton of work for the course and makes it easier to learn, and motivates me to do work seeing how much he does. He also cares immensely about how we do in his class which is a great feeling to have as a student; Dr. Robinson puts in a great amount of work into his classes and ensuring that his students are doing well in this course but also prepared for future courses.

  • Ann Kabo (French): She is super supportive, an excellent teacher and shares life experience that goes above beyond learning the technicals of a language; She works very hard to make learning languages easy and efficient, and she does an excellent job teaching people with all learning styles. She is always very enthusiastic in class and helps everyone as much as needed.
  • Ariel Fuenzalida (Sociology): His classes are beyond interesting and, on a personal level, I have never had a prof more available and knowledgable about their subject. He has allowed me to produce some of my best work in my entire university career (if not my best). I seriously cannot give this man enough praise, he is easily the best professor I’ve ever had and it has been an absolute privilege and honour to study under him.
  • Audra Diptee (History): She is good at involving the class and has interesting presentations.
  • Ayca Guler-Edwards (Psychology): She is always extremely positive, personable and caring towards all of us students equally and goes above and beyond to help us succeed in her course and our futures.
  • Benjamin Woo (Public Affairs): Precise and knowledgeable.
  • Bill Skidmore (Human Rights): Bill is a very passionate, active professor who is not only knowledgeable in his field, but actively participates in actions and causes that line up with his studies/beliefs.
  • Bob Burke (Health Sciences/Chemistry): Interesting and relatable; His lectures are always engaging and interesting. Bob also is very relatable and truly cares about his students learning and wants to help them understand chemistry.
  • Brandon Fodden (Math and Statistics): Amazing prof and overall such a nice and caring person.

  • Candace Sobers (Global and International Studies): Engaging Lectures. Responds to emails well. Assignments are well formatted. Easy to approach. Overall amazing professor.
  • Chris Motz (Psychology): As much as I struggle with some of the material in psychology Chris provides a fun open learning environment in every one of his lectures. His material although tricky is well displayed and it makes learning everything so much more easier. Because his lectures are entertaining I rarely have an issue with getting out of bed in the morning to attend. Chris is very inviting and easy to talk to, and has made my first year so far a great experience; Made lectures enjoyable and relatable. Would provide extra help and resources if needed. Was reasonable and fair with exams and written work schedules, questions and expectations.
  • Christine Crowther (Journalism): Christine gets me excited about journalism, and is the reason I’m thinking about adding Journalism to my major. I want to be like her when I grow up, and I genuinely think she’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever met in my entire life. I deeply respect her.
  • Christopher Dornan (Journalism): Mr. Dornan always bring excitement, passion, professionalism, excitement, and an overall sense of confidence in each of his lectures. His use of examples and stories entices each student to listen and participate, and on more than one occasion he’s had the entire 400 student lecture in tears of laughter. Mr. Dornan makes a somewhat dull subject such as the history of journalism exciting and interesting for every student he teaches, and is an overall great individual who is knowledgeable and friendly.

  • Deanna Whelan (Pyschology): Deanna is able to engage her students during her early morning lectures. She always maintains a positive attitude and offers ample amounts of wisdom and guidance to her students. She creatively teaches her class and with this unique teaching style, helps students succeed. Great professor with a passion for teaching and an amazing attitude.
  • Derek Antoine (Communications): Very engaging and knowledgeable, classes are always interesting and exciting!
  • RJ Cova (Math): Knows the content, he is hilarious, and seems to actually care about the students’ success.
  • Abdulghany Mohamed (Business): Prof Mohamed is my favourite faculty member because he really cares about his students and their success. He is always willing to take time out of his day to meet with his students. He is also such a kind person!
  • Edana Cassol (Health Science): Always cares for her students and wants them to be engaged not just by knowing information valuable for the exam but also for the rest of our careers.
  • Elizabeth Kennedy-Klaassen (Greek and Roman Studies): Very personable, kind, caring and helpful. She made me feel like a real person instead of just a student.
  • Emily Pica (Forensic Psychology): She’s 100% there for the students. She does everything she can to help you, and is always extremely helpful. Her class is interesting and thought provoking. She is truly the prime example of what a teacher should be like.
  • Gerald DeMontigny (Social Work): Down to earth, compassionate, understanding, intelligent.
  • Glenn McCrae (Engineering): His classes are very engaging; He’s Father Nature; Honest and realistic.
  • Gregory MacIsaac (Humanities): Harsh in a good way – will help you improve on your work, but he is also caring and that shows, so when you get a bad mark you feel able to talk to him about it and his feedback is usually very comforting and helpful. Plus, during lectures he is hilarious.
  • James Wright (Music): He is always willing to go the extra mile to help each and every student.
  • Jane Dickson (Legal Studies): Very interactive professor, who not only has a perfect grasp of the concepts that she is teaching, but also can articulate them in a manner that is easy to understand for those with no previous knowledge in legal studies. Very reasonable and expects students to adhere to the guidelines that she has implemented.
  • Janett Martinez-Amador (Spanish): Fantasticly enthusiastic throughout every class. She really cares about each student and helps us all progress as we learn Spanish with her.
  • Jill St-Germain (History): The amount of work Jill puts in is astounding. Twice a week we submit work and within a couple of hours it is returned, commented on and graded, for each member of the class. Also, class is enjoyable and the course moves quickly enough to keep it interesting, but slowly enough so that I understand everything.
  • Jim Davies (Cognitive Science): Extremely engaging. I find his lectures and examples can be easily applied to everyday life.
  • John Walsh (History): Engaging, funny, helpful, good explanations and lectures, responds quickly to questions/emails with accurate and beneficial information.
  • Jon Kidd (Linguistics and Language Studies): He’s funny and good at communicating and teaching. He creates an excellent atmosphere and environment to learn ASL. He makes it interesting and fun; Jon has built a passion for ASL within me inspiring me to continue to take ASL in my future years at Carleton.
  • Jonathan Nilsson (Math): He is positive, comedic, and engages with the class in a way not many other profs are willing to do. Great work all round!
  • Kate Ruff (Commerce): She is very precise and effective while teaching. She takes the time to make sure you understand. She really wants you feel welcome and part of the learning environment opposed to just another student in the class. She took the time to know my name and I exceed well in her class.
  • Kerry Badgley (History): Excitement, passionate about content, communication skills, helpfulness.
  • Kevin Gildea (English): He teaches English like it’s science.
  • Kim Hellemans (Neuroscience & Mental Health): Because she makes everyone love thie course and be involved in what she is teaching, her abilities to make the students understand is incredible, I’ve never had a teacher as Kim, she is my mentor even though I am in Biology.
  • Kimberley Stratton (Humanities): Intelligent, Witty, Motivated.
  • Lara Karaian (Criminology): She is very passionate about what she teaches and makes the class so interesting! She cares about her students and wants to see them succeed.
  • Lev Blumenfeld (Linguistics): He is always excited to teach us and is always incredibly passionate about all that he teaches us! he made me want to change my specialization to linguistics and always makes me excited to learn more about linguistics. He encourages questions and having fun during class yet somehow still manages to get through lots of material each class ensuring that we ALL understand!
  • Lisa Kelly (Biology): They are always willing to help and are dependable for support.
  • Lorena Ruci (Psychology): She is one of my favourite teachers, and she is very educated in what she teaches.
  • Lucas Jurkovic (Pyschology): Very engaging in class and able to connect to the class and make it fun and interesting.
  • Marianne Goodfellow (Greek and Roman Studies): Involved with students, understanding, genuinely fun class and lovely to talk to.
  • Mark Blenkinsop (Math): Great at helping students actually understand the topic he teaches as well as provides comedic stress relief; Gives clear and informative lectures. Compared to my other profs, i enjoy his class the most while also learning the most.
  • Mark MacLeod (Cognitive Science): Easily approachable, makes sure that students understand information and willing to help as much as possible.
  • Matthew Bellamy (History): He is very passionate about learning and about history, he made me fall in love with it all over again; He is so funny and makes the whole class laugh. He always has so much energy and he makes learning about Canadian History interesting with the stories he tells.
  • Matthew Holahan (Neuroscience): Amazing teacher who really cares about the success of their students.
  • Melissa Chee (Neuroscience): She makes the material digestible and interesting.
  • Mitchell Frank (Art History): He made me want to study for the exam. Concepts were made easier to understand.
  • Nigel Waltho (Biology): Excellent teacher, always engaging and enthusiastic, gets students excited about his subject.
  • Pamela Wolff (Chemistry): She is easy to learn from. I don’t want to fall asleep in her class. Shes engaging. Approachable and will help you if you ask. Super funny.
  • Patrizia Gentile (Human Rights): Pat is passionate not only about what she does, but has genuine interest in the understanding of and appreciation for the basic principles that will allow each of her students to become caring, respectful global citizens. Every class is filled with knowledge developed through teachings as well as discussions. I look forward to my two class periods with Pat every week as I know that not only will my voice be heard, but that I am understood and appreciated in that class not only by Pat, but by my fellow classmates; She has made me think about world issues in way i have never thought about before, i love going to her class every week because i know i am going to learn something new every time.
  • Peter Thompson (Canadian Studies): Super friendly, engaging prof, very fair examinations, and overall nice guy!
  • Philippe Azzie (Political Science): He makes himself available to his students, and he has very interesting lectures. By far my favourite class of the week.
  • Robert Collier (Computer Science): Keeps the topic interesting, and enjoys what he is teaching; Professor Collier is a very well-spoken during his lectures. He treats every question and answer from a student with respect. Dr. Collier has a great humour about him and intense passion for his work and students. He is knowledgeable, willing to explore student’s curiosities, and willing to change and adapt his course materials and schedules as is necessary for his students. I greatly look forward to having him next semester as well!
  • Robin Ritchie (Business): Professor Ritchie is engaging and humble. He is knowledgeable and imparts that knowledge in a relatable and objective way. I thoroughly enjoy having him as a professor.
  • Roger Connah (Architecture): Roger Connah is not only my favorite professor due to his refreshing pedagogy, but also because as a first year student it is nice to have a professor who you can tell is enthusiastic with the course, and therefore inspiring. Thank you.
  • Rosemarie Hoey (English): Prof. Hoey continues to inspire me with each class; she takes literature and applies it to real-life. Also, she has really engaged me as an English Major in all the exciting things there is to do in Ottawa!

  • Shannon Butler (Business): Good teacher, really kind and actually cares about her students.
  • Susan Birkwood (English): She really interacts with her students and makes sure they’re learning and understanding what’s happening in the class.
  • Timothy Pychyl (Psychology): Engaging, interesting, knowledgeable, extremely helpful, clarifies anything and everything, relatable, conscientious, makes connections with life and course material, tries to get to know every student so as to best help and teach them, asks for and listens to feedback.
  • Tonya Davidson (Sociology): They have a great deal of knowledge on what they teach and they teach it to students with an obvious passion which makes it easier to listen and digest.
  • Tracy Hodgson-Drysdale (Linguistics and Language Studies): Dr. Hodgson-Drysdale is a knowledgeable professor whose lectures are organized and delivered enthusiastically. The class activities are engaging and all of this has contributed to a great learning experience. I am honoured to have her as the professor of this course.
  • Ummni Khan (Law): Because of her unbelievable passion for her work, and because of the kindness and and unpatronizing attitude she gives to every student.
  • Vincent Kazmierski (Law): Very engaging, and brings the concepts to life.

  • Wayne Horn (Math): Prof Horn has the most engaging lectures and I am actually enjoying math for the first time in my life. His in-class teaching methods are simply excellent.

  • Yvonne Bennett (History): Great instructor, always welcoming and cares about her students. She wants the best for her students and gets to know each and every single one of them. She know my name by the end of the first lecture, something I can’t say any of my other instructors can do. She encourages her students to visit her during her office hours, and I promise anyone who does visit Doctor Bennett, they will not be disappointed. History certainly is not my best nor my favourite subject but the atmosphere presented by Doctor Bennett and her TAs makes me want to do well, attend all the classes, engage, and learn. Overall she is an awesome prof!
  • Zahra Montazeri (Math): Excellent teacher always willing to answer any questions thoroughly.
  • Zainab Amery (Interdisciplinary): They really pay attention to the needs of the student whether they are class related or not.
