The Residence complex will be closed and locked commencing at 12:00 pm noon Sunday, December 22, 2019 to 12:00 pm noon, Sunday, January 5, 2020.

Students making travel arrangements, please take note of the above dates.

Students who originally indicated on their Residence Information Form that they needed to remain in Residence during the December closedown period (December 22-January 5), were assigned accommodation in a building designated to remain open for this period:  Leeds, Prescott, Frontenac, Glengarry or Lennox and Addington.   These students will be personally contacted by the Department to finalize the arrangements and pay an additional fee.

Campus Card access to security doors will be deactivated as of noon on December 22, 2019, until noon on January 5, 2020. University Safety staff will be on duty, regularly patrolling the floors  throughout the closure.

Students who have not previously identified, but now require accommodations over the closedown  are asked to register by submitting the December Closedown Request Form by the deadline of December 11th.  You will receive confirmation of your application and further instructions regarding approval and payment within 10 business days of submitting the form.  Please take note we are not prepared to receive applications for the December Closedown until October 22, 2019.  The application form can be found below.

The cost to remain in Residence is:

$190 for suite-style accommodations

$150 for traditional accommodations.

During the closedown period, there are no food services operating in the Residence Complex.  The last meal served in the caf will be breakfast on December 22, 2019.  The Caf will close at 11:00 am.  The first meal served after the closedown is dinner on January 5, 2020. 

If you are approved to stay over the closedown period, no overnight guests are permitted during the closure.

Required to Return Early?

Requests for early arrival will be considered for students living in Leeds, Prescott, Frontenac, Glengarry or Lennox and Addington.  Students must still register and make payment with the Housing Office so access can be arranged.

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate early arrivals for buildings closed until January 5th.

Permission to stay/return early will not be considered for students who have previously violated the Residence Contract.

Students NOT returning to Residence for Winter Term are not eligible to extend their stay beyond December 22, 2019, as rooms need to be checked and cleaned for incoming winter term students.

Students returning for the Winter term and not staying over the closure may leave their belongings in their room. Students are reminded to pack all valuables and items needed while away as there will be no access to the buildings, floors, and rooms during the closure.
