The following information is for students who will live in residence for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.
- Are vaccinations required in order to live in residence?
-
Following recent recommendations from Ottawa Public Health, students living in residence will be asked to have their first vaccination prior to arrival in residence. For students unable to get their first vaccination prior to arrival, they have until September 8, 2021 to be vaccinated on campus.
Those who for medical or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code cannot be vaccinated may request an exemption.
Students will also be required to receive their second dose of the vaccine prior to October 15, 2021.
Vaccines will be available through vaccine clinics on campus during September and October.
- What type of vaccine will be required?

Students living in residence may receive any COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada. Students will be required to submit vaccination documentation.
International students seeking their first dose of the Health Canada-authorized COVID-19 vaccine may receive one on campus so long as its 28 days after their last vaccination. As per the NACI recommendations, an interval of at least 28 days after the administration of any other vaccine should be taken before administering the Health Canada-authorized COVID-19 vaccine.
- What type of proof of vaccination will be required?
-
Students will be required to complete an attestation and submit documentation ideally prior to moving into residence, or by September 8 at the latest.
To attest to being vaccinated:
- Log into cuScreen
- Click on “Report your latest vaccination status”
- Carefully read each question and answer appropriately
- Upload proof of vaccination (vaccine dose administration receipts or equivalent documents), preferably in PDF format
If you have only received one dose of a two-dose vaccine series, you can complete your vaccination attestation form with one dose now and update your form 14 days after you received your second dose.

-
Students who coming to campus or living in residence after completing their travel quarantine and prior to being fully vaccinated should pre-book an appointment to receive their vaccination as soon as possible after the end of the quarantine period.
Please note that for the purposes of meeting the university’s vaccination requirements, Carleton recognizes a complete vaccine series of those approved by Health Canada listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Once you have received your first vaccination, even if it is after the September 8 deadline, you will be allowed to attend campus for in-person activities. If applicable, this includes living in residence if you have a confirmed room assignment. Please note that until you are fully vaccinated (14 days after your second dose) you will be required to do twice-weekly rapid testing at Carleton. Rapid testing on campus is free of charge and more information on this process will be provided shortly.

-
Students unable to be vaccinated for medical or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code will be able to submit a request for accommodation. Students may email covidinfo@carleton.ca to request a copy of the exemption form.
- What if I choose not to be vaccinated and do not qualify for an exemption?

Students choosing not to be vaccinated not qualifying for an exemption will have their Residence Agreement terminated and will be required to vacate residence based on the terms of the Agreement. Students will be held financially liable as per the Residence Agreement. Please contact us at accommodations@carleton.ca for more information.
