Welcome to the Residence Newsletter!

The Residence Newsletter is sent to current students living on campus on the first Tuesday of each month. Each edition is distributed by Carleton University’s Department of Housing and Residence Life Services and includes information specific to the Residence community such as Residence events, support services, and application deadlines. We look forward to connecting with you!


February Returning Resident Application

Are you interested in returning to Residence for the 2021/22 academic year? Applications opened on February 1, 2021 at 10:00 AM through Carleton Central. We encourage you to continue checking your cMail account and the Housing website for updates and more information to come.

Residence Events

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in our Open Mic Night on January 31st! Extended Hours for New Starbucks Location

Dining Services is pleased to announce the new Starbucks in Residence Commons will now be open from 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Located on the 2nd Floor of Residence Commons next to Fenn Lounge, stop by to get your favourite beverages and pastries. Don’t forget you can also order through our Hey Chef app! Download the app in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and use access code RAVEN to get started today.


Resetting Room Swipe Cards

Based on the updated University Academic dates & deadlines, the last day of Residence is now April 28th, 2021. If you live in a swipe key building (Frontenac, Grenville, Lennox & Addington, Russell, or Prescott) please visit the Residence Desk to have your card reprogrammed.


Changes to Residence Reception Desk Hours

Effective January 17th, 2021 the Residence Reception Desk will be open 7:00 AM -12:00 AM midnight Sunday to Wednesday and 24/7 Thursday to Sunday.

New residents who have not moved in yet and are arriving after midnight between Sundays and Wednesdays are asked to please email accommodations@carleton.ca so that arrangements can be made.

For lockout assistance when the Residence Desk is closed, please call University Safety at 613 520-3612. For emergencies please call 613 520-4444.


Service Fees for Lockout Assistance Now in Effect

Effective Monday January 4th 2021, all lockouts now incur a $10.00 service fee (per lockout) through a resident’s Student Account. This includes lockout assistance provided by Campus Safety Services.


Community Lounges, Microwaves and Vacuum Locations

Community TV lounges and study lounges will remain closed during the provincial lockdown. Laundry rooms will have maximum capacities posted.

The microwaves in lounges of some buildings will be moved to new locations so they remain accessible to residents. These locations are:

  • Glengarry: 2nd Floor Commons Lobby
  • Leeds: 2nd Floor elevator lobby
  • Stormont/Dundas: Outside of the Ravens Roost
  • Lennox and Addington: 1st Floor elevator lobby
  • Russell/Grenville: Main lobby

Residents can continue to pick-up toilet paper from the Residence Commons Reception Desk. Floor vacuums have been relocated to the lobbies of each floor.


COVID-19 Updates

In response to the sustained rise of COVID-19 cases, a state of emergency and stay at home order continues to remain in effect for all of Ontario.

We ask that you continue to be COVID wise and follow all public health guidelines and government regulations to reduce the risk in our community. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or if you feel unwell, please contact the Residence On-Call Manager by phoning the Residence Desk at 613-520-5609.
