- First Year Guaranteed Residence Cancellation Policy

Students have up until 4:30 pm on June 8 to cancel the residence acceptance and receive a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations received between June 9 and July 15 are entitled to receive a partial refund of $350. Cancellations received after July 15 will result in a forfeit of the deposit.
If the Student Account balance is zero and you are entitled to a full/partial deposit refund, the funds will be placed back onto the card that was used to make the payment. It may take 8 – 15 business days (does not include weekends or holidays) for the funds to appear back on the card.
If fees are owing on the Student Account, the refund will be placed as a payment towards those fees and will not be refunded back to the card.
- New Student Cancellation Policy (not including First Year Guaranteed)

Students who have paid a deposit to secure a room in residence that cancel on or before July 15 are entitled to receive a partial refund of $350. Cancellations received after July 15 will result in a forfeit of the deposit.
If the Student Account balance is zero and you are entitled to a full/partial deposit refund, the funds will be placed back onto the card that was used to make the payment. It may take 8 – 15 business days (does not include weekends or holidays) for the funds to appear back on the card.
If fees are owing on the Student Account, the refund will be placed as a payment towards those fees and will not be refunded back to the card.
- Returning Carleton Student Cancellation Policy

Students who have paid a deposit to reserve a room in residence have until July 15 to cancel their reservation and receive a partial refund of $350 of the deposit. Cancellations received after July 15 will result in a forfeit of the deposit.
If the Student Account balance is zero and you are entitled to a partial deposit refund, the funds will be placed back onto the card that was used to make the payment. It may take 8 – 15 business days (does not include weekends or holidays) for the funds to appear back on the card.

- International Students Whose Visa is Denied

New/returning Carleton International students who have supporting documentation from the Embassy to show their Visa application is denied will be reviewed for a full/partial refund of the $700 despite the above policies and cancellation deadlines.
Upon review, should you be granted a full/partial deposit refund, if the Student Account balance is zero, the funds will be placed back onto the card that was used to make the payment. It may take 8 – 15 business days (does not include weekends or holidays) for the funds to appear back on the card.

If you wish to cancel your residence reservation, please follow the steps below:
- Log into Carleton Central and on the “Main Menu” scroll down to “Housing Services”
- Click on “Accept Residence Offer”
- Select the term
- Click on “Cancel Accepted Offer”
