  • Amrita Hari (Women and Gender Studies): Dr. Hari is really supportive and understanding. One of the best professors I’ve had so far!
  • Andrew Webb (Sprott): Professor Webb is so energetic and enthusiastic while teaching. His positivity and kindness makes it very easy for me to reach out to him to ask questions. Professor Webb also has a great segment in his 3 hour lectures, the Business Bonehead of the Week, which is always very interesting!
  • Ashley Thompson (Neuroscience): Interactive and passionate.
  • Barry Wright (Public Affairs): For a Dean he is very connected with his students that he directs. He is also very personable and welcoming to all Student in the Arthur Kroeger college. When I came for my tour of Carleton University he was the selling point on why to come to Carleton over any other university because he took time out of his busy schedule to talk to a lowly grade 12 trying to make up their mind about where they would like to apply.
  • Beth Robertson (History): Her class is a blast – concepts are clear – numerous fascinating guest speakers – she makes history come alive.
  • Bill Skidmore (Human Rights and Social Justice): Continued dedication to keeping students engaged in human rights discussions, sharing his passion and being such a personable educator!
  • Bob Burke (Chemistry): Great teacher. He’s very funny and provides real life examples that help us learn difficult concepts. But mainly, I’m able to get a good laugh when watching his lectures. It’s my literal dream to have lunch with Bob. Bob always makes class enjoyable and truly makes you feel like he cares about how you do in his class. They are my favourite faculty member because they make the lectures interesting and fun, while also being very helpful and informative. Makes the lectures fun, while covering all the relative material thoroughly.
  • Brandon Fodden (Mathematics and Statistics): Outstanding professor.
  • Brian Cousens (Earth Sciences): Super genuine guy, really cares about your education.
  • Candace Sobers (BGINS): She is such a powerful women and an amazing teacher. She’s honestly a great teacher. She’s extremely professional but also takes time to get to know you when you participate. She also makes her classes interesting and useful in real life situations. She also treats us like equals unlike some professors. She also adds little stories about her life to make it more engaging and interesting. On Academic Orientation Day she was so helpful and eased a lot of my and other students fears.
  • Chris Motz (Psychology): He makes the class engaging, which makes me want to come to class, allows me to learn better, and understand the material more thoroughly. The content isn’t necessarily the most exciting (especially since I’ve taken high school psychology courses) but I have never ever been bored in Chris’s class. Funny, relatable, great lecturer. He makes class enjoyable and the time flies! Chris is a professor that makes you want to learn and speaks in a way that engages everyone in the room. He had made psychology a favourite class of mine, which says a lot considering I took that class because I had an extra elective. Chris has a way of teaching that makes the information we learn very easy to understand, and makes the class feel like a very light, joyful place! He also has a great sense of humour – he shows us everyday in the classroom. Engaging lectures with attention to important foundational knowledge and complex details. He is so enthusiastic when teaching the material and always does his best to ensure that we succeed in his class. Chris is my favourite faculty member because he puts a lot of effort into teaching by making outside connections in his lectures. He also cares a lot about student success. He even sent an email out to all his students in his morning class stating that he values our class time and can’t help them if they aren’t there because students were having trouble waking up in the mornings to get to his class. He’s just a genuinely good professor who loves his job. They’re my favourite faculty member because they’re genuinely interested in driving home the information that they are teaching. He goes above and beyond just lecturing with the use of diagrams and videos and real life applications. Most importantly you are able to get a sense of who he is as a person and rather than holding himself above the class in a superior way, he puts us on the same level as him and it creates a comfortable feeling. The tips that he gives evokes feelings of caring for our education and that’s a nice feeling. He gives weekly tips for success and has a wide cart of resources on cuLearn too. He’s never late to start or end. He’s not boring and dry in the lecture and has lots of enthusiasm when discussing the topics. It’s not a matter of “here’s a theory, now memorize it and regurgitate it.” It’s more like “here is a theory, I’m going to give you an example of my grandma because she’s awesome, and this story is going to be comical.” That way you can remember it and be able to actually apply it. Makes class enjoyable and happy. He’s always positive, and teaches very well with good explanations and examples of everything. I look forward to going to his classes! Absolutely hilarious & makes learning interesting.
