Orientation & Tours
Carleton University provides a variety of orientation programs to open the door for a paramount university experience.
Whether you are coming to Carleton as a first year student, a mature student, a transfer student or as an international student, there are engaging programs designed to assist you with the transition to life at Carleton.
Getting a good start is critical to success in university and Summer Orientation is a program designed to achieve this for new students and their parent(s) or guardian(s). The one-day Summer Orientation sessions begin early in July and run until mid August. These sessions are designed to promote academic success and individual development.
There are several sessions available throughout the summer, both faculty spotlight and ones open to all students, where students and their parent(s) and/or guardian(s) will participate in small group activities, get your Campus Card, set-up your MyCarleton e-mail account, receive academic advising and support with class registration. This will help every new student enter university informed and confident.
It can be intimidating moving to a new “home”. During the living in residence session, you will find out what you should (and shouldn’t) bring with you when you move-in, what to expect in your room, who the members of our Residence Life Staff team are, meal plan information and much more! You will also receive a tour of residence in order to familiarize yourself with your new community.
If you are not planning on living in residence in September, there is an off-campus session in which you will find out how to get involved on campus to meet other Carleton students, how to conduct your off-campus housing search if you are not living at home and information on off-campus meal plans. If you are planning to live on campus, consider registering for our Residence Overnight Orientation which happens over a weekend in July!
Fall Orientation provides new students with an exciting week designed to get students engaged and involved. A packed schedule of events is planned by the Student Experience Office, Residence Life, and the Carleton University Students Association to encourage students to make new friends and familiarize themselves with their new surroundings.
Registration for Fall Orientation will be available on the Fall Orientation website.
