Exams are less than a month away and while it may seem hard to believe on days like today, that means summer is right around the corner. While this is an exciting time for all students, there is a fair bit of work to do, packing, studying, finding summer work and maybe even finding housing for next year are all things that keep students busy this time of year. While this all may sound stressful we are here to tell you that with some planning ahead of time, you can breeze into the summer.

First thing is first, where will you be living next year? Coming back to residence? Moving off campus? If you have a house in Ottawa for next year that is great but leases often don’t start until May 1, which leaves you with a couple weeks between moving out of residence and taking possession of your new place. While this isn’t ideal, a great way to avoid moving your things back home and then hauling them back to Ottawa in the fall or over the summer is, renting a storage locker. This could also be an option if you are returning to residence next year. Not only will this save you time but it will prevent big headaches moving your stuff back and forth.

Next up, don’t forget about that whole school thing. The end of the year can be stressful, exams, final projects and even graduation for some of you. The best way to tackle the end of the semester is to have a schedule and stick to it so that you don’t become overwhelmed. Make sure to include time for breaks with friends and even time to pack up your room as the move out deadline comes quick after that final exam. Another pro tip for exam writing and final assignments is: adopt some healthy habits, whether it is in the caf or simply spending some time outside in the fresh air. Healthy choices are invaluable when it comes down to crunch time.

Finally, as if you weren’t stressed out enough, where will you work this summer? Maybe you already have something locked down or maybe you don’t plan to work at all but for those of you who don’t yet have this figured out, you might want to add this to the to-do list. Whether you are staying in Ottawa or heading home, bars and restaurants are always a great place for students to work as the hours are great and the pay/tips are even better!
