The Department of Housing and Residence Life Services is committed to taking steps in order to strengthen our physical and social environments so that future generations can continue to live and learn in our residence community.

What are we doing?
-Transferring lighting to LED lights
-Changing all fixtures in residence to low-flow
-Installing water filling stations
-Connected to Lucid dashboard for updated energy and water consumption data
-Composting organics from the Fresh Food Company, the residence dining hall
-Bike share station in Residence Commons

Green Globe Residence Buildings
The Green Globes building assessment program is being used to design and assess all new buildings and major renovations on campus, ensuring sustainable buildings are a part of the campus community.

In Residence, our Green Globe Buildings are:
-Residence Commons (4 Globes)
-Russell-Grenville House (4 Globes)
-Frontenac House (3 Globes)
-Lennox and Addington House (3 Globes)

Electrobac Waste Bins
Carleton has partnered with Electrobac to provide small electronics waste and ink cartridge recycling on campus. In residence, these waste bins are located in Residence Commons. These bins accept: chargers and cables, memory cards, cell phones and cell phone chargers, ink cartridges. (Not accepted- batteries, lights, VHS and cassettes.)

Special Waster Depots
As part of ongoing commitments to waste reduction, there are two Special Waste Depots in residence. They are located in the Raven’s Roost (1st Floor Stormont House) and the Department of Housing and Residence Life Services (261 Stormont House). These locations will accept the following items: batteries, rechargeable batteries, cell phones, printer toner cartridges.
